what we do

About ENGclusion

We are on a mission to bring knowledge to the engineering industry that can improve diversity, equity, and inclusion. Despite the recent push to increase diversity, engineering jobs remain dominated by White men. Our goal is to investigate how we can retain historically excluded groups in engineering.

N

Fairness and equity

Everyone has a right to feel that they belong in engineering.

N

Improve the sector

Diverse perspectives makes engineering better.

N

Expand the workforce

New Zealand is facing a skills shortage in Engineering so we need to attract and retain more people.

Our Projects

Experiences

We are examining the experiences of engineers of all genders to understand gender differences in satisfaction and sense of belonging through a longitudinal study. We are also considering intersectionality of the participants to look for differences in experiences across other facets of identity.

Tools and practices

We are studying the inclusivity of engineering tools and practices to derive changes to the very way we do engineering.

Education

We are examining how we educate the next generation of engineers, and how our education system can be made more inclusive.
